Gladys Peto

I came across these original prints, quite by accident whilst casually browsing Ebay. Struck by there similarity to one of my favourite artists Aubrey Beardsley who undoubtedly Peto found inspiration, I had to have them. My eyes were opened to a wonderful world of inspiration, and yet another collection began.

During the 1920s and 30s Gladys Peto's illustrations prominently featured in magazine and poster advertising and in children’s books. Its also noted that in the '30s it was the "in thing" to wear a peto dress. Well I would be happy to wear a Peto dress now. Her use of pattern and colour are as relevant today as they were in in 1920.
